teachlove Very fast transfer of ideas and direct sounding album, a definite listen for Aphex fans. Feels like zeitgeist music. Favorite track: Spores.

about

For each track on my debut album, I wanted them to be like little stories or journeys. A walk through distinct peculiar landscapes where you end up in a totally different place than where you started. Along the way, things happen to you and you might even meet odd characters and creatures at some point. Such encounters happen for instance in The Valley of Vector, where you meet Vector, or in Magma Magpie.

With most of the album, I tried to combine both the older warmer 90s, and early 2000s IDM sound (and there's even a toy FM synth in there from my childhood), with new, fresh, and modern sounds from the 2020s.

Tube Fields is like a journey through a field of tubes. Spores is like a journey through a field of life-sized spores waving in the wind.
Weaving Shadows is inspired by the wind as well. In the center of Amsterdam, where the houses are small and the streets are narrow, some streetlights are hanging on cables in the middle of the air. When there is a particularly stormy night, these streetlights will start rocking back and forth and all the shadows in the street start dancing. It's the most beautiful thing.

While Subterranean Constellations is a journey underground, A Knife from Lula is all made with the sound of a knife (I got the sound from my friend and artist Lula). The most abstract walk might be Blocks Here and There.
